OAH – Overview

Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas (OAH), established in March 1965 by Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, is a spiritual sanctuary nestled on the banks of the sacred Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Founded by a God-realized Saint, Mystic, Sage, Philosopher, and Writer, the Ashram embodies a harmonious blend of spiritual wisdom and modern educational pursuits.

The Ashram's inception began with the construction of the Yajna-Shala, leading to the establishment of the Omkarananda-Shanta-Durga Mandir in 1967. Over the years, OAH has expanded its reach, establishing over 74 educational, cultural, social, and spiritual institutions across the Garhwal Himalayas. These endeavors are managed through registered Trusts and Societies, including the Omkarananda Dharma Samsthan, Omkarananda Charitable Trust, Omkarananda Educational Society, and Omkarananda Saraswati Natya Kala Academy.

The Ashram is renowned for its commitment to spiritual practices, cultural preservation, and educational excellence. It maintains 18 temples in the Himalayan region, constructed in unique and attractive South Indian architectural styles, serving as centers for worship and cultural activities.

Under the guidance of Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, the Ashram continues to thrive as a beacon of spiritual enlightenment and societal development. Its serene environment, coupled with a rich tapestry of cultural and educational initiatives, makes OAH a revered institution dedicated to the upliftment of humanity through the synthesis of tradition and modernity.
